The forum is still not for personal use, It is for collective use. If you want to tell your "Friends" in attic, post it on your profile, that way they can see why you aren't around while leaving others that personally DGAF without that knowledge instead of you moronically using a PUBLIC forum to announce your temporary retirement.

And at both posts above, check the links, both involve the same type of "attention whoring" threads, both are locked, MOST are deleted, this one is no different.

You make good points, BUT as this is just a simple forum that goes to the attic people, it does not exactly make it "pointless" because If the attic is down we'll have to have SOMETHING to roleplay with.

And it wasn't 1-2 days ago since I posted something like this. Secondly, delete my profile and create a new one? Dude, I've had this one for a few months. I just have a bunch of accounts with different uses. It's not a crime, nor shall it ever be.

1. This forum is about people and for the attic, not to anyone else all because they have the "right" to.

2. If it bothers to read this forum so much, then simply just skip it. There's no reason to cause an argument all because I won't listen. If I did it once I'll do it again and just keep going.

3. I wasn't attention whoring. I was simply just saying the honest truth. You really need to check the dates before you judge as well, I didn't post "I am leaving" 2 days ago. It was over a month ago before things changed.

1. Doesn't matter if it is off topic or not. Off-topic was made for things such as forum games, unofficial polls, and other things fun, not personal messages, personal messages to specific people are to go through the mail system, to the general populous on the forums, and personal messages to people whom you care about are to be posted using your profile text.

2. This thread isn't about the attic, it is a personal message from you to the attic explaining your absence (which has yet to happen). Items about you, written by you belong on your profile text nowhere else.

Does that not tell you that it could be against the rules? That is one of several reasons why a forum thread would be locked.

Here's a quick list of why they lock/delete threads:
1. The topic is a personal message
2. The topic is repeating another thread
3. The original topic has been has been lost, and has moved on to something else.
4. The topic has erupted into a flame war
5. The topic was not placed correctly, and can't not be modified to the correct place.
6. The topic follows the design of "Post whatever you want" and is thus spam.
7. The topic by nature is spam advertising (such as another game site)
8. The topic is viral advertising (encouraging users to search for it on another site)
^those are some of the reasons, they seem to be the main reasons.

It is a personal message, are you seriously that dense? "He's addressing a whole community" He is addressing people of "his" community (the attic) by saying why HE isn't there (still has yet to happen) to a select group that cares.

The first place any sane person would check to see it he is still coming on is where? the forum? Why? Has he ever posted anything on the forum? I've never seen it. Maybe they would check, oh Idk, his profile maybe? Seems logical that they would check his personal page to find out if he has been coming on or not, the place where they could find out when he was last on. That is why that is where this message should be.
